This year our school was lucky enough to be granted funds to participate in the ‘Say yes to Languages’ Language Sampler Module. This is an initiative funded by the Department of Education which aims to:
- Generate awareness among pupils of the range of languages used by their peers in their schools and communities which may help support greater inclusion and appreciation of diversity in society.
- Encourage uptake of languages at post-primary level.
- Provide opportunities for increased levels of collaboration among the school community with regard to the celebration of languages and cultures.
As part of this initiative, pupils from 3rd to 6th Class had Spanish lessons once a week for 8 weeks. Thanks to Isabelle they enjoyed the programme and are all set to practise a few words when they go abroad this summer!
