Friday the 20th of December was a very busy day in Springdale. Our morning began with our Junior and Senior Infant nativity play in All Saints’ Church, Raheny. Junior and Senior Infants enthralled their audience during their performance of ‘A Christmas Recipe’. They reminded us all of the true meaning of Christmas.
This nativity was followed by ‘Christmas with the Aliens’, performed by 1st and 2nd Class. This was another stellar performance which retold the traditional Christmas story to some alien visitors who become stranded on earth and met a group of schoolchildren rehearsing their Christmas play.
Our final carol service was held in St. John’s Church, Coolock. 3rd to 6th Class were joined by their parents, relations and friends for Christmas carols and readings. 6th Class paid a fitting tribute to their classmate, April Banks, when they lit their lighthouse at the start of the service to remind us that just as a lighthouse’s bright light, guides sailors through treacherous waters, God’s light leads us through the storms of life when we are faced with challenges and uncertainties. Even at the darkest of times, we can trust in God’s light to guide us safely to shore as His love shines down on us.
